This HEA symposium is aimed at those in the performing arts disciplines (and, indeed, any disciplines) interested in observing, documenting, and debating creativity as process, and sharing experiences and practices.

BRING YOUR STORIES AND STRATEGIES

We invite all those attending to bring with them their stories of creative practice in learning and teaching.

Some questions for the day:

- What do we define as creative (or un-creative?) practice?
- What do our students think is expected of them?
- How can we evidence creativity? Do we evidence creativity?
- Can creativity be taught? If so, how?
- Are we really teaching something else when we talk about creativity?
- What are the institutional creativity enablers/inhibitors?

This event is linked to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), through:

  • supporting the initial and continuing professional development of staff engaged in teaching and supporting learning in dance, drama and music;
  • fostering  dynamic approaches to teaching and learning dance, drama and music through creativity, innovation and continuous development in diverse academic and/or professional settings;
  • acknowledging the variety and quality of teaching, learning and assessment practices that support and underpin student learning in dance, drama, and music.
