Journal of the Northern Renaissance
Dance of the Northern Renaissance
Edited by Lynsey McCulloch and Emily Winerock
The Journal of the Northern Renaissance (JNR) is a peer-reviewed, open-access online journal dedicated to the study of early modern Northern European cultural production. Alert to the full variety of early modern cultural practices, JNR publishes articles that relate to early modern literature, visual culture, philosophy, theology, politics and scientific technologies. We place a special emphasis upon questioning the Southern European derivation of our inherited paradigms and upon exploring alternative conceptualisations, geographies and periodisations of the Renaissance. Similarly, although most of the work we publish deals with Northern Europe in the fifteenth, sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, we are especially interested in attempts to challenge existing periodisations of the Renaissance in the North, and to establish and interrogate continuities with earlier and later epochs.
