Assistant Professor, Department of Dance: Contemporary Dance Composition College of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences. The Department of Dance at University of California, Riverside, invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor faculty position to begin July 1, 2014.Responsibilities will include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in the department’s composition, repertory, practice and performance curricula; mentoring undergraduate and graduate choreography students; pursuing a professional choreographic agenda; and participating in departmental activities and administrative service at College and campus levels.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Starting date: July 1, 2014. Fall Quarter Instruction begins October 2, 2014.

Qualifications: MFA or MA preferred, received by July 1, 2014, or professional equivalent (earned BA and a minimum of 5 years of professional choreography and performance); established track record as a choreographer and performer; college teaching experience; interest in working in a diverse, multi-ethnic, international environment.

The successful candidate will be a working choreographer who can teach composition courses at graduate and undergraduate levels; teach repertory, improvisation and/or dance practice classes drawing from his or her professional expertise; mentor graduate and undergraduate student choreographers; direct dance student productions.

Preference will be given to candidates who can teach from a range of contemporary dance forms and compositional strategies, including but not limited to culturally specific, traditional, site specific, multi- disciplinary, or digital. Interest in exploring, scholarly and artistic intersections, pedagogical approaches, interdisciplinarity, and international collaboration will also be considered in the selection process.
