The Paris-Lodron University of Salzburg invites applications from experienced post-docs to fill a fixed term, full-time position (five years) in the Department of Art, Music and Dance
Studies, starting October 1st , 2023. The gross salary for this position is € 4.351.90 (14 times annually,including vacation pay and Christmas bonus), according to the collective bargaining agreement of Austrian universities (§26 wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in im Forschungs- und Lehrbetrieb Postdoc, Verwendungsgruppe B1).
The successful candidate holds a PhD in dance studies and is expected to carry a teaching load of 4 semester hours and take over some administrative duties while maintaining a strong and
visible research profile (including collaborations for the CIVIS Neo-Baroque project and independent publications). Applicants with doctoral degrees from adjacent disciplines, such as theatre studies, musicology, or cultural studies with an emphasis on the performing arts will also be considered and are explicitly encouraged to apply. This position comes with the opportunity to habilitate, should a candidate desire.
Strong applicants will have considerable experience with grant writing and international research cooperation, drawing on an international network of research contacts. Excellent knowledge of
the history, theories, and aesthetics of the performing arts is reflected in their research and teaching background. Ideally, the research axis Dance Studies–Performing Arts–Performance and Staging– Contemporary Arts ties into their distinguished academic profile with a proven track record of gender and DEI competences in past teaching as instructor of record, publications (for instance in the field of the dissertation), paper presentations at international conferences, or other activities.
The Department of Music and Dance Studies is looking for a pro-active, dependable, committed team player with excellent didactic and communicative skills and the ability to think across and beyond academic disciplines. Near native command of English and German are necessary for teaching and administrative duties, additional languages strengthen applications. Preference will be given to candidates willing to take up residence in Salzburg for the next five years.
